Arcadia is bringing fresh green coffee from Colombia to Ireland. Farm to Roastery. Direct.

Let’s start from the beginning; what is green coffee?

Green coffee is the processed seed that comes from the fruit of a coffee plant. In other words: it is the raw and rather green looking coffee bean before it gets that lovely brown colour from being roasted to perfection by your favourite roastery.

We at Arcadia specialize in fair, direct and sustainable trading to make ethically sourced, freshly harvested Colombian green coffee accessible to the Irish speciality coffee community.

Core Values

Sustainability

We pay directly to the coffee farmer the highest price possible for his/hers produce while optimising logistics costs so our customers in Ireland won’t be facing repositioning transport charges and overseas storage fees. The direct trade we do in Colombia supports a better life for the farming families, development in their communities and sustainable improvement in the quality of their produce.

Quality

We control the entire coffee production process and the whole logistics chain – from sourcing the freshly picked cherries; defining which process those cherries will go through to become delicious coffee beans and selecting which varieties get to be milled, sorted and graded; we define the type of packaging and branding to use to finally deciding which shipping line will transport our container from Colombia to Ireland. All our coffees are graded, analysed and scored by The Independent Coffee Lab in London.

Partnership

Some of our supplying farming families replaced coca plant crops with coffee ones thanks to a successful peace process lead by the Colombian government in which guerrillas, private armed forces and cocaine producers have been disbanded and reinstated to Colombian society. We at Arcadia feel proud of helping this varied group of small farmers, these include indigenous ethnic and afro descendants groups. We direct trade with them for their exceptional produce and we are committed to support their talent and hard work in a transparent, sustainable and reliable manner.

Environment

Our supplying coffee farmers adhere to the guidelines and standards The Colombian Coffee Growers Association (FNC, Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros) define not only to produce coffee but to promote environmental sustainability throughout the whole coffee production value chain. As well as social and production development and inclusion of coffee growing families and communities. The FNC’s environmental program, focus and efforts can be found here
